How you'll make a difference

Alexandra Way Care Home is owned and run by South Gloucestershire Council and provides accommodation and personal care for older people assessed as in need of residential care. Alexandra Way can accommodate up to 43 residents.
In these extraordinary times you really can make a difference to the vulnerable residents living in our care home. You will be a valuable member of the team, ensuring the comfort and safety of those who need our assistance.
You will make a difference by ensuring general housekeeping duties are carried out to a high standard. This job is very rewarding, you will help keep residents safe, clean and supported.
What will you be doing?
  • Your main role will be to provide general cleaning around the home, cleaning all areas including lounges, dining rooms, corridors, toilets, bathrooms & individual bedrooms.
  • You will also be required to carry out laundry tasks including stripping and making beds, sorting laundry appropriately to wash, iron using hand or the rotary iron and sewing in name labels and minor repairs to clothing and bedding.
  • At meal and snack times you will assist in preparation, undertake cleaning of the dining room and servery area and wash dishes, equipment and load the dishwasher.

What we need from you

  • Demonstrate your awareness around Health & Safety, including moving and handling.
  • Able to demonstrate taking responsibility to report situations that may involve safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
  • You will be willing to work on a two week rota which includes weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Have experience in general domestic duties.
Please note that due to the nature of this role it isa requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service(DBS) check is obtained for this post.
