An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time housekeeper to work within our emergency department at Peterborough Hospital. Our team need someone who is organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic to join us to support the delivery of safe and effective care. You will need to be passionate about working within a team, and have a dynamic and forward thinking approach to service improvement. An emergency department housekeeper’s role is to support the clinical staff by maintaining and restocking all areas of the department, encompassing ordering stock, stock rotation and liaising with the materials management team. You will also be expected to maintain high standards of organisation in the department by ensuring the department is kept tidy, clinical equipment is maintained and cleanliness levels achieved by liaising with our domestic staff. You will be expected to work shifts 7days per week, including bank holidays.
The post holder will work as an integral part of the ED team, working with the nurse in charge of the shift. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in the Emergency Department and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, stocking equipment, ordering stores, catering, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the sister/charge nurse. The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and support service departments. They will monitor quality standards, report deficiencies and appropriate action taken to the nurse in charge.
