Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a House Porter within the Workplace Services Team.

The role

The role holder, alongside existing colleagues, will provide soft facilities services to buildings and tenants as part of the Facilities Management team. The work supports the academic community and contributes to the smooth running of the buildings and sites.

Some of the following diverse and responsible services you will provide include:

Morning or evening Site and building inspections

Provision of site security including unlock and locking up, first point of call daytime, evening and weekend security incidents.

Monitoring and reporting any issues regarding cleaning standards within the buildings

Setting and resetting of seminar rooms, lecture theatres and event spaces to agreed pattern or style.

Co-ordinating access for removal company and co-ordinating logistics for office moves including assisting where required.

General maintenance, including agreed tasks of hanging noticeboards, making good walls, painting, litter picking, assisting with waste disposal.

About you

Candidates should have experience in a caretaker/porterage or similar role, good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and visitors at all levels, in addition to good time management skills.

The role holder frequently works non-standard, unsocial hours and weekends as part of a shift system covering a 7-day operation; sometimes working without direct supervision across multiple buildings and sites.
