About this Role
The Whitworth Art Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its catering team as Hospitality Services Assistant.
The café is set within the historic Whitworth Art Gallery (The Whitworth), with a rich heritage of art, the university and the city since 1889. The café is a highlight of the Whitworth, located in the floor to ceiling elegant glass extension designed by MUMA in 2015, overlooking Whitworth Park and the gallery’s Art Garden.
We wish to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic person to assist with daytime and evening hospitality. The post holder will carry out hospitality services across the gallery (including café and restaurant service within the café area, as well working on weddings, events and hospitality), providing a warm and friendly service in support of the Gallery’s visitor experience.
The post holder should have demonstrable knowledge, experience and awareness of customer service in a similar environment, along with a basic understand of Health and safety and food safety is a café environment. Barista skills and previous knowledge would be preferred but not essential. A naturally positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment is essential to this role.

This is a full-time vacancy, working 40 hours a week across 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends as required around the business.
University Catering
The catering at The Whitworth will be operated by the University’s catering team, which encompasses a broad and diverse range of business areas – including retail outlets, catered halls, student bars, conferencing, events and hospitality.
With such a varied range of business across the week, the department is always a buzz of activity – no two days are ever the same. The business operates 7-days a week, accommodating events and hospitality both daytime and evenings across the week, including weekends.
