Job Title: Hospital Porter
Trust Location:Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, DL6 1JG
Pay Rates: Band 2 - £10.42/hour (Weekdays), £14.69/hour (Saturdays) & £19.07(Sundays/Bank Holidays)
Shift Patterns: Various shift patterns per week on a flexible rota.
No one has a greater run than the hospital Porters, you’ll be moving patients from one place to the next, as well as a range of hospital items such as furniture, case notes and gas cylinders.
A Porter offers a bridge of normality, you’ll support patients in a unique way as you’re not administering care. You’re striking a rapport with patients, asking them how their day is and taking their mind off any concerns whilst being in a hospital.
What’s involved:
· You’ll learn how to navigate multiple departments of the hospital across the week
· How to manage relationships with different ward stakeholders across the trust
· Knowledge of the hospital layout to move patients promptly and support people who may need directions to a particular ward.
- Removal of deceased patients from wards and departments to the mortuary or holding room, passing over the patients’ case notes as required.
- Transport laboratory specimens, blood products between hospital wards and departments.
- Change and replace gas cylinders (including oxygen and medical gases) throughout the Trust.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
