An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Play Assistant to join our Therapeutic play department within Acute child Health at the Children's Hospital. The successful post holder will work within the Therapeutic Play Dept supporting patients through their Hospital journey.
This position is for 37.5 hours per week Mon - Fri 8am - 4pm.
The successful candidate will be required to work autonomously and as part of a team and will be required to organise their working day to fit in with the needs of the patients and families. Effective communication skills are essential and you will need an excellent knowledge of child development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Participate in play appropriate to the needs of children in hospital, using play to minimise the adverse effects of hospitalisation.
Work in partnership with families providing appropriate care and play for patients
Undertake planning and implementation of therapy based play and distraction therapies for use during clinical procedures.
To use skills, knowledge and experience of play to work as an independent practitioner.
