As the Horticultural Head at Gualin Estate, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage all horticultural activities within the estate. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the estate's landscapes, gardens, and agricultural fields are maintained and developed to the highest standards, in line with the estate's vision.
Some of the key responsibilities that you will have as the Horticultural Head at Gualin Estate include:
Planning and Design: You will be responsible for designing and planning the estate's landscapes, gardens, and agricultural fields. This includes developing and implementing horticultural plans, choosing appropriate plant species, and overseeing the planting and maintenance of these plants.
Horticultural Management: You will be responsible for managing all horticultural activities within the estate, including the cultivation, propagation, and maintenance of all plants. This includes managing the use of pesticides and fertilizers, overseeing irrigation, and ensuring that all plants are healthy and well-maintained.
Staff Management: As the Horticultural Head, you will be responsible for managing a team of horticultural staff. This includes hiring, training, and supervising staff members to ensure that all horticultural activities are carried out to the highest standards.
Budgeting and Planning: You will be responsible for preparing and managing the horticultural budget for the estate. This includes forecasting costs, managing expenses, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
Sustainability and Conservation: You will be responsible for ensuring that all horticultural activities are carried out sustainably and in line with the estate's conservation goals. This includes managing the use of water and other resources, promoting biodiversity, and implementing sustainable practices.
Reporting: You will be responsible for preparing and presenting regular reports to the estate management team. This includes providing updates on horticultural activities, progress towards goals, and any issues or concerns that need to be addressed.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree in horticulture or a related field, as well as several years of experience in horticultural management. You should have a strong understanding of plant biology and be able to apply this knowledge to manage plant health and growth. Additionally, you should have excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a team. Finally, a passion for sustainability, conservation, and environmental protection is highly desirable for this role.
