Homelessness Prevention Officer
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 18 Months

By offering a proactive, compassionate and professional approach, you’ll investigate and assist in all accommodative affairs, offering the best housing solutions available with understanding and care. Our work is rewarding, changing lives for the better by tackling homelessness, building new homes and strengthening communities.
You’ll be based either in the office or across Leicester where required. You’ll work 37 hours a week Monday – Friday. Having the ability to work flexible hours on non duty days. With the duty days hours set as 8:30 - 5 and 8:30 - 4 on a Friday.
What you'll be doing
With the primary aim to prevent homelessness in the City, you'll assist customers to either retain their present accommodation or by the provision of an alternative housing resolution and ensuring access to suitable housing for those in need in line with the Homelessness Strategy. You'll work on the front line with customers either face-to-face, over the telephone or home visits, sometimes in
potentially conflict and sensitive situations. Investigating, assessing and advising clients on options open to them including producing written correspondence and liaising with other key stakeholders.
What you’ll need
Putting the customer first you'll have the ability to produce clear and concise verbal and written communication. With excellent interpersonal and listening skills you'll be able to deal effectively with a range of customers and stakeholders especially in stressful, conflict and sensitive situations. You'll respond with a high level of customer care and be able to problem solve whilst managing your caseload efficiently.
This role is subject to a Standard DBS check.
