Job description
Are you a Band 6 midwife looking for an exciting change?
Does providing women with care throughout their pregnancy journey as part of an organisation with an outstanding global reputation appeal to you?
Then please apply for a Homebirth Team Midwifery post.
You should be an experienced midwife, able to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care in line with the Homebirth and Continuity of Carer pathway.
At the Birmingham Womens and Childrens Hospital, we strive to be at the forefront of innovative midwifery care. We are a large, friendly tertiary center providing care for over 8000 women a year. Proud to be dedicated to womens healthcare, we are committed to offering choice for the women and their families we provide care for each year. In light of the findings from the birthplace study (2011) Birmingham Womens has set up a home birth service which is based within the community. The homebirth team actively promote home birth and home assessment to low risk women. This service has been running for 6 years and includes specialist home birth midwifery support workers, who are trained to be the second birth attendants.
Currently home births account for around 2.1% of the number of babies born at Birmingham Womens and we want to increase this in the coming years. To do that, we need to make sure that there is a constant route for home birth across our local maternity system and ensure that women can achieve the birth that they want.
