Job description
We’re seeking a ‘can do’ person with good customer service and communication skills to join our busy Home Ownership team and provide advice to our tenants and leaseholders, city council colleagues and other stakeholders about homeowner legislation and city council leases (for example explaining our approach on shared ownership, right to buy, alterations and much more).
We’re in the process of updating our systems so we can become more efficient and effective, and as Home Ownership Officer you’ll also get the opportunity to help shape the system we’ll be using.

Role Responsibilities- Good working knowledge of housing legislation, regulation and procedures for Right to Buy.
- Good working knowledge of leasehold management, recovery of service charges, Section 20 process and the Right to Buy process.
- You’ll have a good understanding of leasehold legislation and practices in relation to the calculation, consultation and billing of service charges.
- It would be an advantage to have experience of working with Shared Ownership.
- You will have experience of the recovery of debt and arrears for residential leasehold and shared ownership homes.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- You will have experience of working in Local Government preferably in housing and it would be an advantage to have a qualification in housing.
- The ideal person will understand the changing regulatory requirements and legislation in social housing, especially the impact of Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023.
- You’ll have proven experience of working within home ownership either in local government and/or housing associations.
- A positive, can-do approach to meeting challenges and enjoy working as part of a team.
