About the Service
GreenSquareAccord`s Health and independence service (formerly Age Matters)- aims to improve the quality of life of older and vulnerable people. We offer a range of services that help older adults live independent and fulfilled lives. We are a Help at Home service that provides practical support around the home such as shopping, cleaning, and ironing alongside social interaction and companionship for service users. You will get to know the people you care for, learning about their interests, their family etc. so we want someone who is able to listen, care and interact meaningfully to those who want to share.
In your new role as a Care Assistant/ Home Helper, you will:
- Undertake visits to clients in their own home to provide a range of high-quality tasks, such as domestic duties, shopping, carer`s support and escort duties to doctors, hospital appointments etc.
- Explore ways of interacting and engaging with the client being supported and the cared for person in their own home
- Assist the Help at Home Coordinator in responding to new enquiries and referrals.
- Follow and contribute towards Risk Assessments with particular reference to Infection Prevention Control and lone working.
- Immediately report any concerns about client`s well-being to the Help at Home Co-Ordinator and, where necessary, adhere to safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Work within a team and co-operate with all colleagues to deliver a high standard of service and sustain a harmonious working environment.
As a Care Assistant/ Home Helper, you will ideally have:
- Recent experience of working with older people, people with a learning disability, mental health or dementia, in a care environment or within their own homes.
- A full, clean driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Experience of working flexibly and collaboratively within a constantly changing workplace environment.
- Practical experience of adhering to a rota and completing tasks to a high standard within an allocated timescale.
- Knowledge and experience of Adult Safeguarding processes and procedures.
- Experience of working on own and as part of a team within agreed parameters.
- Ability to recognise and act on concerns /observations in relation to safeguarding or general well-being
- Some cleaning experience within a domestic environment.
