A vacancy has arisen for the position of Highways Supervisor within Highways Direct Services.
The role involves the supervision of Staff on various aspects of Highways Maintenance and construction works, such as Hazarding, Gully cleansing, fencing, kerb laying and slabbing, Road and Footpath Construction, Tarmac works and patching, Sign and Column erection, drainage works ( pipe laying and manhole construction ) and Winter Maintenance.
The candidate must be computer literate as orders, plant returns, site records, site inspection reports and all Health and Safety matters are communicated electronically.
Knowledge of Construction and Maintenance works are essential, identifying correct types of plant and machinery to employ as well as materials. Guidance must be provided to the workforce staff in safe and effective construction methods, understanding Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of work, COSHH, working with detailed Drawings and Specifications are essential. As well as being able to mentor staff, encourage skills advancement, deliver Tool Box Talks and motivate individuals to maintain good levels of productivity.
