The Team

Our secondary school is located in the beautiful Cotswolds. The music department has a wide extra-curricular offer running from small ensembles through to larger bands. We regularly perform in wider community at fayres and festivals and put on two shows in conjunction with the drama department every year.

The Role

Working as part of a small team, this is an interesting and varied role, completing all aspects of administration and providing classroom support as part of the Music team. We are looking for an excellent administrator who is extremely enthusiastic, well organised with good communication and IT skills, easily able to handle varied tasks. In addition, someone able to combine their administrative flair with assisting students in a classroom, contributing to the practical side of the extra curricular programme and, on occasion, covering music lessons. During busy exam and show periods, the ability to assist with performing arts administration is also desirable.

This role would suit someone with a passion and flair for music and, therefore, may be of particular interest to someone who has experience of working with secondary aged students, perhaps as a singer, instrumentalist, peripatetic/music or drama teacher or supportive capacity.

The working hours are anticipated as 15 per week, to be worked flexibly by discussion and agreement.

The type of administrative tasks will be:

· Dealing with music queries, internally and externally from parents

· Scheduling visiting music teachers and ensuring students understand the timetables

· Maintaining records of attendance and creating an annual report

· Assisting with the recruitment of new visiting music teachers

· Liaison with Site and Theatre Managers and staff to calendar and book dates/events

· Liaison with Finance for invoicing

· To assist with ordering of props and costumes for school productions

As HLTA, you will

· Be willing and able to assist or cover some KS3 classes

· Contribute to the wider school curriculum - in particular help prepare GCSE and A level students for performance exams.

· Run / assist with the running of after school/lunch time ensembles within school

  • Be highly ambitious for all students
