HGV Lorry Loader Driver
Location – Dudley
Permanent, full time (40 hours per week, overtime required)
Overtime paid at time and a half after, 40 hours.
General Description
Garic is looking for a professional, enthusiastic, and flexible HGV Lorry Loader Driver to join the team at our Dudley depot in this fast paced & varied role. Start times are between 6am and 8am and you will be working around 8/12-hour days. Overtime paid at time and a half, after 40 hours.
As a professional HGV Lorry Loader Driver, you will be responsible for the delivery and collection of company assets throughout the UK. There will be occasions where you will be required to work away.
Your role will include various duties, including being fully responsible for safe operation and road worthiness of the vehicle you are allocated to drive and the safety and security of the load you are transporting.
You will be responsible for efficient and effective route planning, ensuring your workload is completed in line within current WTD legislation and to also ensure customer expectations and requirements are met.
The successful HGV Lorry Loader Driver will need to have good customer service and communication skills as you will be directly dealing with customers daily. Promoting Garic positively delivering an excellent standard of customer service.
Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Safety performance and culture:
- Complete walk round and safety checks daily
- Identify and report any vehicle defect immediately.
- Adhere to and follow safe systems of work and RAMS.
- Load and secure equipment accordingly
- Fully comply with EU directive on drivers’ hours and tachographs
- Fully comply with the highway code
- Quality:
- Ensure assets are delivered to a high standard.
- Ensure vehicle & cab is kept clean.
- Delivery:
- Complete workloads through BCA
- Ensure delivery/collections are completed on time and in full.
- Plan routes effectively
- Cost:
- Ensure any damage is captured using BCA.
- Apply safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques.
- Reduce engine idling.
- People:.
- Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
- Actively promote Garic product and services to customers
- Keep your knowledge and skills up to date and keep abreast of new legislation.
What do you need to become the successful HGV Lorry Loader Driver?
Essential Skills:
- Full understanding of EU drivers’ hours and working time laws
- Category C entitlement
- Valid DCPC card
- Ability to carry out pre-use safety checks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Flexible, highly motivated, effective team player
- Able to learn and assimilate new information.
Desirable Experience:
- 1 year driving experience within construction sector
- 1 year lorry loader experience
- Clean driving licence
- Category C+E entitlement
- ALLMI unlimited lorry loader training OR CPCS lorry loader (HOOK)
