WHAT IS THE JOB OPPORTUNITY?
We are now looking for an experienced Class 2 HGV driver to join our friendly team at Leeds branch.
WHAT'S THE OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE?
To collect, transport and safely deliver flooring materials to designated customer locations, making sure that all orders are delivered on time, in the right condition and to the right place.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
Deliveries transportation
- Transport, unload and deliver goods in a safe and secure manner to prevent damage, spoilage or loss.
- Working with the loader, check that the load is correct against the customers orders before departure.
- Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a safe and timely manner.
- Determine the best routes - taking into consideration traffic congestion, delays, diversions to adhere to time and route schedules as far as possible.
- Make sure that the vehicle is maintained in both a safe operating condition and to a minimum standard of cleanliness.
Customer service
- Follow any customer specifications regarding delivery.
- Make sure, on arrival, that it is safe to make the delivery and respect the customers property.
- Obtain delivery confirmation from customers.
- Respond appropriately to customer enquiries or issues upon delivery.
- Act as a professional representative of Carpet & Flooring during journeys, and upon delivery of goods maintaining C&Fs high standards of internal and external customer care.
Safety and legal compliance
- Perform vehicle inspection before departure to make sure it is mechanically sound and legally roadworthy.
- Supervise the loading of the vehicle to make sure that delivery items are loaded securely and efficiently.
- Drive the vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, complying with relevant transportation and road regulations at all times including drivers hours limits in respect of an HGV.
Communication with colleagues
- Communicate traffic delays and other delivery concerns promptly to the Transport Supervisor.
- Consult the Transport Supervisor or Sales Team as appropriate in the event of errors or problems in the flooring materials delivered to the customer.
Records completion
- Update a driving and delivery log (including legal tachograph record for an HGV) in line with company policies and procedures.
- Complete and submit a daily vehicle inspection sheet.
- Report accidents in compliance with the company's accident reporting procedure.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO HAVE?
- Category C, Class 2 licence
- Driver CPC qualification
- Effective communication skills
- Strong customer focus
- The ability to manually lift/carry/move up to 25 kg
WHAT'S NICE TO HAVE?
- Experience of multi-drop deliveries
- Local area knowledge
- Basic Knowledge of Health and Safety (Not essential as training will be given)
- Knowledge in the use of tuck under tail lifts (Not essential as full training will be given)
