Job Role: Helpline and Online Advisor
Reporting Line: Head of National Helpline and Online Services
Attendance Times: We have one part-time role available for the following hours:
- Tuesday or Thursday 4-8pm, Friday 4-8pm and two Saturdays per month 10am-2pm. In addition, you will be required to attend supervision once per month on a Saturday 9am to 12 noon.
You may be required to work additional hours when authorised and as necessitated by business needs.
Training dates: Attendance at our AIM Training course ‘Working with Survivors of Sexual Abuse’ is mandatory for this role. The training will be held over 4 days on 3, 4 and 17, 18 June 2023 online.
Salary: Dependent upon contracted shifts (based on £14.31 per hour) and matched pension contribution up to 5%.
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days paid annual leave plus public holidays pro rata.
Location: Home working and office-based in Warwick.

Safeline is a Warwickshire based, leading specialist sexual abuse and rape charity. We help women, men and young people who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk and we find ways to prevent abuse from ever happening. We have been protecting and supporting people affected by sexual abuse and rape for 28 years and we intend to continue this vital work for many years to come because the need for organisations like ours has never been greater.
Job Purpose:
You will provide appropriate emotional support, information and guidance to those affected by sexual abuse or rape, responding quickly and efficiently to clients who may contact us over the phone or online.
Job role:
Respond sensitively and appropriately to our clients - adults and young people who have experienced sexual abuse or rape, their friends, family and professionals – via the Helpline and Online Services managed by Safeline.
Provide emotional support via communications channels such as telephone, email, text and live chat.
Signpost clients to alternative sources of information/support and take referrals for potential counselling clients where appropriate.
Inputting data for monitoring and completing relevant statistical forms.
Adhere to Safeline policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality, appropriate professional boundaries and our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and adults at risk.
Attend regular Management Supervision and Clinical Group Supervision, staff meetings, training and professional development workshops.
Supporting ongoing Safeline projects as appropriate
As part of your induction you will be provided with and required to attend a full training programme plus the opportunity to attend continuing professional development events throughout the year.

Training: Successful candidates will be required to attend the AIM training or have already attended Safeline’s training ‘Working with survivors of sexual abuse’. Training is over the weekends of 3.4 and 17.18 June 2023.
