We are looking for a 2nd Line ITS Desktop Engineer to join ourexpanding IT Services team to provide second line desktop support for all IT problems escalated by first line support or from the IT Helpdesk, seeking technical support and advice from technical team. To Project manage elements of work as allocated by the IT Services Manager/Senior IT Services Engineer, providing an outstanding service to learners, staff and other stakeholders. To actively engage in developing and promoting the departments operational plan while engaging with achieving the College strategic aims and development plans.

The role will involve the deployment of Operating Systems and applications onto Desktops/Laptops – using Microsoft SCCM, the management of daily security checks, including antivirus and windows updates. Reporting in line with KPIs on system health, feeding information to 3rd Line / Senior IT Services Engineer for patching, or to resolve issue and ensuring the smooth running of ICT equipment on corporate days and evenings. Keep documentation up to date and writing new guidance on deployed technologies, including technical solutions on the IT Helpdesk for IT Services and SharePoint staff/student guides while also working to establish positive working relationships with colleagues, engaging with staff and students.

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A minimum of 24 months experience delivering 1st line desktop support.
  • IT customer focused environment face to face, over the phone and remotely.
  • Software and OS packaging and deployment.
  • Experience in dealing with wireless systems.
  • Experience in network fault finding.
  • Experience with Microsoft desktop products, including Windows 10 and 11. Office 365 including Teams.
  • A strong awareness of the importance of first-class internal and external customer service.
  • An ability to create and contribute to effective teamwork.
  • Excellent IT skills with a willingness to constantly update IT skills.
  • Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent. Including English & Maths grade 4 (C) or above.
  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification in IT.

Full time 37 hours a week, all year round.

Salary £22,250
