LEARNING, EARNING, FUN!

Our passion for quality and enjoyment of life go hand in hand with a respect for the world in which we work and the people we work with. We value and embrace diversity. We promote responsible alcohol consumption, make a difference to the communities we’re part of and strive to be our industry’s greenest brewer - www.heineken.co.uk

Who we are:

At the Manchester brewery we brew and package around 4.5 million hectolitres of beer every year. Whether it is leading people or running and repairing equipment, we need people with a varied skills set on site to uphold our Quality and Safety standards whilst we manufacture our fantastic brands.

Our brewery remains a pivotal part of our UK supply chain network, producing around five million hectolitres per year of Foster’s, Birra Moretti, Red Stripe, Kronenbourg 1664 and Heineken®. We’re delighted to have been given the quality seal of approval from our Amsterdam Head Office to brew Heineken on our site – and as a bonus, we’re making our carbon footprint smaller in the process.

We are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity for 3 internships over the Summer break from University. These are aimed at students currently enrolled at University who wish to build vital skills and experiences that will help build a foundation for their future careers, but can offer a contribution to our business too. Ideally, we are looking for 1 student with a mechanical engineering bias, and 2 with an interest in Manufacturing Data and Analytics, and Continuous Improvement processes.

What you’ll do as a Brewery Intern with us:

As a Brewery Intern, you’ll gain an insight in what it takes to make some of the UK’s favourite beers, as well as experience working on a busy production site in a global business.

Ideally, the tasks that you’ll be working on will add value and compliment your studies. We’ll also give you access to training that allows you to complete your duties safely and to a good standard.

The possibilities don’t have to end at the end of your internship with us! We offer a brilliant Supply Chain Graduate scheme that may be of interest to you after your studies!

You will be paid the Fair Wage* to ensure this opportunity is accessible to all, and living expenses can be covered whilst on the internship (pro-rata).

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for somebody that shows enthusiasm and is willing and ready to learn, on top of that you may have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Ideally, a 2nd year student starting 3rd year of study in September 2023, or a Masters or PhD student. For the right candidate, we can be flexible on this.
  • Currently Studying Engineering or related science based, or business school degree that compliments the nature of the work we carry out on site. Whilst we are openminded on the nature of the specific degree programme in progress if there are transferrable skills, we’d be particularly interested to hear from students on the following courses:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Process Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Logistics/Supply Chain Management
    • Automation Engineering

  • Comfortable with the use of IT systems, and an interest in Data and Digital tools and analytics of manufacturing performance.
  • An interest in Continuous Improvement/TPM methodology.
  • Ability to demonstrate and share examples of where you have shown determination and initiative.
  • Ability to demonstrate evidence of some work experience, hobbies or involvement in clubs or societies.
  • Ability to pick up new skills quickly.
  • Attentive to the needs of the technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently, with a good degree of self-motivation.
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK - A student VISA only permits 20 hours of work per week.
