The Colposcopy/Hysteroscopy Unit is a busy unit that offers both diagnosis and treatment to women undergoing both Colposcopy & Hysteroscopy.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Health Care Support Worker to join our team within Outpatients at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

You will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is well organised and has excellent communication skills. You will be flexible and used to working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will be an effective team player with a flexible approach who can plan and organise their workload, prioritising as required.

You will be eager to learn and have an interest in Gynaecology and Women’s Health.

You will provide effective, compassionate and confidential patient-centered care and support. You will escalate in line with Departmental and Trust Policy and Guidance.

The post holder will work mainly within the nursing team, tasks being allocated on a daily basis by the shift leader.

Assist the department manager in ensuring stock levels are maintained.

Chaperone nurses and doctors as required with examinations and minor procedures, support patient throughout the procedure emotionally.

Following appropriate training to complete baseline assessments in, urinalysis, and NEWS 2 observations.

To assist in the daily cleaning and preparation of equipment and the processing of dirty equipment and linen disposal correctly.

Report and record all accidents and untoward incidents to a qualified member of staff in line with policy.

Undertake any other reasonable duties, which may be required as delegated by a qualified nurse, which are commensurate with the grade and nature of the post, to meet the needs of the service. You may also be deployed to others area within Gynaecology and Women’s service to meet and maintain safe staffing

Use computerised information system after receiving appropriate training.

Undertake basic administrative and clerical activates.

Comply with health and safety policies with particular regard to the rules and procedures carried out in the event of fire or other emergencies.

Comply with all policies, procedures and guidelines as laid down by Birmingham Women’s Trust.

Be aware of the need for confidentiality, both with written and spoken

To undertake Phlebotomy and other investigations where full training will be given
