The Post:

ARHAI leads and supports efforts to prevent healthcare associated infection by means of guidance development, surveillance, operational support and training, covering areas such as incident and outbreak management, decontamination, the built environment, research and infection prevention and control expertise.
The Candidate:
We are seeking a Healthcare Scientist (Health Protection) to work across three of ARHAI Scotland’s five Priority Programmes; NPGE (National Policies, Guidance and Evidence), ICBED (Infection Control in Built Environment & Decontamination), and CARHAI (Community Antimicrobial Resistance & Healthcare Associated Infection).
As a Healthcare Scientist, the post holder will be required to support consultants, programme leads or senior nursing and scientific staff in the provision of specialised information, advice and support to stakeholders. This will include the provision of scientific literature reviews, analysis, interpretation and presentation of epidemiological and surveillance data and participation in relevant research activities.
You will be educated to degree level in a scientific or clinical subject with a proven track record as a team player, the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, and will be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of healthcare partners. You will have excellent planning and organisation skills and well developed analytical skills. Knowledge of the NHS, health protection, epidemiology, public health and infection control would be advantageous.

Location and Working Pattern:
This is a National post. The location of the post is flexible and will be hosted by ARHAI Scotland. The contract location of this role will be Glasgow, however, we promote flexible location working and currently work from home in line with Scottish Government guidance. We anticipate that a flexible approach to where we work will continue and a blend of home and office working will become the norm depending on preference and service need
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
