Job description
We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Healthcare Science support worker to join our team in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The post holder will provide the daily support to our highly specialist Echocardiographers, co ordinating the flow of patients through the Echo department focusing on the inpatient service. They will also support the patients individual needs during the scanning process.
This requires the post holder to carry out a range of duties including administrative /clerical, Portering / patient manoeuvring , preparation of patients /equipment and basic patient support and observations as necessary.
We are looking for individuals who have good organisational and communication skills as well as be able to demonstrate both a caring and empathetic manner. Training will be provided but candidates must have the ability and aptitude to undertake this sometimes physical role with the transfer and maneuvering of patients in line with manual handling - policy and procedures.
Whilst the base is Royal Glamorgan Hospital employees must have the ability to travel between sites to suit the needs of the service.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Cardiac Physiologists with the management of both inpatients and outpatients into the service area.
They will work as part of the team alongside Cardiac Physiologists and Healthcare Scientists providing help, support and care to all patients attending the Echocardiography Service.
The post holder will support the smooth flow of patients through the Echo department as well as supporting the patients individual needs whilst in attendance
This requires the post holder to carry out a range of duties including administrative /clerical, portering and patient manoeuvring, preparation of patients and equipment for procedures and basic patient support and observations as necessary.
The post holder will ensure that their clinical practices conform to agreed UHB guidelines.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all UHB policies and procedures are observed, and meet the UHB mandatory requirements for this role.
The post holder will have the opportunity to develop, through Your Conversation (PDR), their own knowledge and skills to benefit of the service.
