Job role: Phlebotomy Trained Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients
Location: Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC) 95 Harley Street, London
Salary: £25,428 - £31,079 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant who can deliver excellent customer service to our patients, visitors and consultants. As a HealthCare Assistant in Oncology, for the majority of the time, you will be working independently and expected to work autonomously with their venepuncture and phlebotomy skills.
Duties and responsibilities
- Keeping the treatment rooms organised, clean and tidy at all times
- Ensure clinical areas are restocked regularly
- Clean and inspect equipment reporting any faults
- Recognise own limitations and request assistance as necessary
- Maintain a high level of clinical practice
- Ensure correct labelling and transport of specimens
- Chaperoning and assisting medical staff
- Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required
- Assess patient’s condition through basic measurements
- Report any concerns to the Nurse in charge
- Ensure all patient charges are capture
- Keep clear and accurate records
- Obtain blood specimen
Skills and experience
- Phlebotomy / Venepuncture experience and qualification is a MUST
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting - from GP surgery, care home or hospital
- Oncology experience is desirable
- Care Certificate is desirable but not a essential
- Evidence of updating clinical skills/knowledge
- Evidence of professional and personal development
