An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Patient Transfer Team at DRI. The role requires a dynamic and proactive individual who can work to support the effective flow of patients through the organisation.
The post holder will provide assistance to qualified staff by the effective, prompt and competent undertaking of delegated duties. To work as part of a team, as directed by the team leader.
The candidate must have excellent coordination and communication skills to ensure the timely transfer of patients across the Emergency pathway. You will be expected to work transferring patients to all areas to meet demand ensuring that patient safety and quality care support the patient’s journey.
The Emergency Department team currently spans across both Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital sites and we are a friendly and extremely busy team that welcomes new team members enthusiastically.
The nature of the job also requires a person to have a temperament to deal with senior staff, patients and their relatives and members of the general public in a professional manner.

- Assist with the care of the patient's physical and personal needs, ensuring a high standard of care is achieved.
- Assist nurses in the care of pressure areas and the prevention of pressure sores, using recognised tools of assessment.
- Assist with the patient's basic hygiene needs.
- Understand the recognised tools to assess care needs.
- Assist patients to meet their individual elimination needs.
- Assist patients to mobilise safely, including the correct use of various aids available.
- Chaperone patients while undergoing medical examination and various procedures.
- Escort appropriate patients to other wards/departments within the hospital.
- Assist in the care of the terminally ill, providing sensitive support for the patient and their families.
- Assist with last offices.
- Maintain a safe, tidy and clean environment for staff, patients and relatives.
- Assist with simple aseptic techniques.
- Assist the patient during the administration of medicines.
- Record the patient's vital sign observations as delegated by the accountable nurse and report findings as instructed.
- Report the patient's blood glucose results as delegated by the accountable nurse, report findings as instructed and following the Trust's policy and procedure in this regard.
