About us
Ellern Mede Eating Disorder Services is widely regarded as the UK’s most specialist provider of intensive inpatient and outpatient treatment for children and young people. We have a higher proportion of staff to patients than any other UK specialist eating disorder provider, able to provide close personal care to all of our patients. We treat young people aged 8 to 18 years with eating disorders, frequently in terms of a pre-arranged NHS England contract as well as some privately funded cases. We also are able to treat young adults aged 18 to 25.
Have you recently completed a psychology degree and would like to gain at least 1 years’ experience working as an HCA? Are you an experienced HCA who has worked with children and young people with eating disorders and would like to progress with a career at ELLERN MEDE? or would you like to gain experience within eating disorders healthcare as full training is provided at Ellern Mede?
We are looking for dedicated and passionate people to join our team and help positively shape the lives of the children and young people we work with. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will help our patients meet their health and social care needs by providing support that is of the highest standard. Your determination to never give up will act like a beacon of hope for our patients as their embark on their treatment journey to address their eating disorder.
Working with children and young people with eating disorders can be exceptionally challenging. You will need to be emotionally resilient at times, however you will be working as part of team who will support you as well.

Responsibilities:
- Provide healthcare support to patients
- Positively and proactively engage with patients
- Ensure that all centre guidelines; policies and procedures are always adhered to.
- Assist with the documentation of patient journeys, including completing paperwork, recording observations and communicating with colleagues effectively
- Support patients at times of emotional distress and provide care and treatment. At times this can be against the patients wishes.
- Liaise with colleagues, external professionals, patients and their loved ones with respect and dignity
- Undertake assigned and / or delegated duties of the Nurse in Charge, including observations
