Job description
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health Care Assistant / Phlebotomist to join Orchid House Surgery in Ferndown for 16-24 hours a week.
Orchid House Surgery serves a practice population of c.9,000 patients. The Practice has a CQC rating of good and has a close working relationship with the Primary Care Network to improve patient care and provide an expanded clinical support team.
As an experienced HCA/Phlebotomist you will be working with a friendly treatment room team including Practice Nurses, HCA and Phlebotomist. We are looking for a strong team player with professional standards to undertake a combination of phlebotomy and health care assistant duties, who will fully contribute to the provision of the best possible care for our patients. Job Responsibilities
a. Undertake new patient health checks
b. Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
c. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
f. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
g. Carry out BMI checks as directed
h. Act as a chaperone as required
i. Perform venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
j. When trained, administer flu vaccinations
k. Carry out ECGs as requested
l. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
m. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

Part-time hours: 16-24 per week
Salary: From £10.42 per hour
