Job description

We are looking for Health Care Assistant to join our friendly teams in Orthopaedic Outpatient department at Gloucester Hospital. It involves assisting Clinicians in Orthopaedic and Fracture clinics providing high quality care in our busy department.

The successful candidate will develop specific skills and competencies to support our Orthopaedic and Fracture clinic services.

The role of HCA also includes assisting with the transfer of patients within the hospital eg between wards and other departments

We are looking for candidates who enjoy a varied workload, who have a positive attitude and are able to adapt to changes quickly in a patient focused environment.

The team is comprised of Managers, Staff Nurses, Plaster Technicians and HCAs. We have a very diverse team with knowledge and experience.

We are all about the Team and how we bring different but all essential skills to provide the best care for our patients.

Ability to get on well with people at all levels and work effectively as a team member.

To be responsible for working with colleagues and managers to provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors.

Under guidance, deliver safe patient care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.

Discretion and understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

Understand and adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures.

Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level e.g. patient observations.

To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.

To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised. On occasions, the job holder may be exposed to distressing or emotional circumstances.

To act as a chaperone for patients attending clinic appointments.

To participate and contribute to team meetings/ discussions engaging with the team and participating in the ongoing development of the Outpatient Department.

Application of various types of Splints after training.
