Healthcare Assistant | Outpatient Department | Oadby, Leicestershire | Band 2/3 equivalent depending on experience | Full Time or Part Time considered, from 15 hours per week | Flexible hours considered | Excellent clinical training opportunities and benefits.
Due to an internal promotion, Spire Leicester Hospital have an opportunity for you to join our team as a Healthcare Assistant within the Outpatient department. You will be offered extensive clinical training if required with our Spire Healthcare Assistant Development Programme to develop your clinical skills in areas such as phlebotomy, ECG, wound care, minor ops and wound dressings, all whilst being fully supported by your team.
We also offer you the opportunity to take on additional link roles and become a ‘champion’ for clinical specialities, including leading on initiatives for these areas.

Duties and responsibilities
You will work both independently, and alongside clinical team members to provide a high quality, comprehensive nursing service to all patients and users, ensuring a high standard of a patient care is maintained in a clean and safe environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA to expand on their current clinical skill set as part of a large supportive team working across multiple clinical specialities.
You will also:
- Act as chaperone for your patients
- Running independent phlebotomy clinics
- Assisting in minor operations
- Post-surgical suture and plaster removals
- Wound dressings and clip removals
- Carrying out observations and obtaining key information such as height and weight.
- You will be expected to work independently once you have completed sufficient training and competencies.
- To meet Spire values, whilst delivering care to patients and relatives
Who we're looking for
You will be experienced within a Healthcare setting, ideally a hospital setting, although other areas will be considered. You will be keen to develop your clinical skills and undertake training as required
- You will hold your NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Previous outpatients experience would be an advantage.
- Phlebotomy competency, Plastering skills, ECG and wound care experience is desirable, however training can be offered.
- You must be keen and willing to undertake training in clinical areas such as minor ops and wound dressings.
