Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for a you to join the new and innovative Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit (EPOC) as a Healthcare Assistant. This is a rapidly developing service which supports the delivery of holistic, high quality care to surgical patients at increased risk of adverse outcomes.
Successful Candidates will have the unique opportunity to help shape this new service to enable the EPOC unit to become an outstanding new addition to the surgical perioperative pathway.
EPOC is a bespoke built unit, comprising of 14 beds cross-site of post-operative patients from a variety of specialties including Maxillofacial, ENT, HPB, Plastics, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Vascular, Upper GI, Urology, Orthopaedics and Thoracics. Patients will be cared for at a higher level of care, 1.5. This unit will have input from a variety of members from the Multi-Disciplinary team including Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Acute Pain Specialist Nurses, CCOT and Critical Care Pharmacists.
As a Healthcare Assistant within EPOC, you will assist the registered staff with patient care, taking observations, helping with personal care and maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure smooth running of the unit.
Working in EPOC will give you an opportunity to develop your skills caring for patients following major surgery. You will be offered training in a variety of skills including patient observations and personal care. There are also opportunities to attend additional training in enhanced HCA skills if desired.
You will have the option to be a link person for a variety of areas or equipment, assisting in staff training and development for EPOC.
