Crediton Pharmacy is an independent community pharmacy in Crediton growing from strength to strength and we pride ourselves on our pharmacy care and customer service.

Hours to be full time / flexible (including to sometimes help out on Saturdays 9am to 1pm)
Previous dispensing/ healthcare experience is preferred, but not essential as training will be provided (NVQ level 2 in pharmacy service skills) with immediate start.

Training and development
You’ll be given the training on the job such as health and safety, use of IT systems and dispensing prescriptions.

Main Responsibilities
Working alongside our knowledgeable Pharmacist and the team, you will be instrumental in the efficient delivery of pharmacy processes to ensure our customers are really taken care of. This role maintains a high level of competence to ensure the safe dispensing of medication to customers as well as being the experts that our customers can rely on.
What you’ll be doing day to day.
It’s all about providing health advice through focussed conversations with our patients, whilst giving clear and accurate answers.
Your duties will include:
- Tailoring conversations with every customer to ensure they leave your pharmacy feeling informed and confident about their healthcare needs.
- Delivering the technical aspects of the dispensary whilst ensuring the safe supply of medicines e.g. ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing and collection of prescriptions.
- Complying with legal and professional requirements and accepted guidance on professional practice within the company.
- Seeking opportunities to engage with GPs and practice teams to promote services and items.
- Delivering efficient dispensary operations and ensuring dispensing losses are minimised.
What you’ll need to have.
We’re offering you an exciting career opportunity and a chance to continue your professional journey. You will need to have an NVQ Level 2 equivalent in Pharmacy Services and may currently be or have previous experience of working as a Pharmacy Dispenser to join us.
To work within our dispensaries, you also need to have completed a Medicines Counter Assistant (NVQ2) qualification or equivalent. However, if you have not previously completed this, we’ll support your development to complete our training within 6 months of joining us.
If you are interested in further developing your professional career, we can support you towards achieving both competency and knowledge based NVQ Level 3 (QCF) qualification in Pharmacy Services to become eligible to register with the GPHC as a Pharmacy Technician. This could then lead to an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) role. As you continue to develop your healthcare knowledge through these qualifications and roles, your pay and benefits will reflect this.
The Ideal Candidate
We're happy to consider either a Trainee Pharmacy Assistant or a Qualified Pharmacy Assistant for this role. Whether you're just starting out in the Pharmacy industry or if you're already qualified we're looking for someone who is friendly and organised with a passion for providing excellent customer service. Building relationships with your customers is key and you’ll play an important part in meeting their unique healthcare needs.
In order to be considered for the Qualified Pharmacy Assistant role it is essential that you already have a NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
The pharmacy of the future will look very different from the one we know today. It will play a huge role in transforming primary healthcare and we will play a central role in bringing it to life.
Education / Skills
- Pharmacy Counter Training preferred but not essential if you have previous retail counter experience.
- You would need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- You would need to have a genuine concern for patients and be able to provide outstanding care for our customers.
- You must be able to work under pressure and to work within deadlines.
- You need to be able work accurately and methodically and pay attention to detail.
- You must have excellent customer service skills and it skills.
Responsibilities
- Taking in and handing out prescriptions
- Ordering items and unloading deliveries
- Selling over the counter medicines
- Responding to queries and referring to the pharmacist when needed
- Providing health advice and sign posting to our customers
