Our Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford are looking for Healthcare Assistants to work on an as and when basis supporting patients with life limiting illness on our in-patient and out patient units. Apply today for a rewarding career in palliative care!

Title: Healthcare Assistant

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC Band 2 - £11.45 per hour plus enhancements

£16.14 per hour for weekday nights & Saturdays

£20.95 per hour for Sundays & Bank Holidays

Hours/Contract: As & When

Contract Type: Permanent

Based: Bradford Hospice

Marie Curie provides free specialist support and care for patients with cancer and other life limiting conditions, and their families. We aim to give patients the best possible quality of life, meeting their medical, spiritual and social needs, while also providing their families with the emotional support they need.

To join our dedicated, caring team, you'll need an S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma, or be willing to work towards it, and relevant experience – ideally within a care setting. Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support. We expect you to have a talent for forging strong empathetic relationships with all kinds of people, whilst providing palliative care. Due to the nature of the role a flexible approach including the ability to work nights and weekends.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work within a team.
  • Flexible approach to working patterns
  • Recent experience in a health/social care setting
  • An empathy and understanding of issues encountered by patients with palliative care needs
