Job description
As a Healthcare Assistant you will undertake aspects of basic nursing care and maintenance of the ward/ department, in support of professionally qualified members of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the highest standard of patient/client care. You will deliver care under the supervision and direction of qualified members of the team. You are expected to recognise, review and report any change to patient’s/client’s condition, including any action taken to appropriately qualified senior members of the team.
Will assist in the delivery of care to patients in accordance with agreed plan of care adhering to Trust policies and protocols of the department.
Responsible in recognising patient’s condition and deterioration which include emergency action with the qualified staff.
Provide a holistic care to patients considering their spiritual, cultural, psychological ,religious and physical well being.
Professional and sensitive approach to end of life patients including their families
Work well with the multi disciplinary team
Practice good effective communication with patients and carers including handling sensitive information
Maintaining a 24 hour care service , flexing to the needs of service user
Participate in the development and promotion of positive learning environment
Complete Mandatory training to maintain competence

Eliza Tinsley Ward has 24 beds each in single-sex bed bays and is for people (primarily patients from the Sandwell area) who are medically optimised or patients needing more Rehabilitation.
As a healthcare assistant you will play an important part in creating a great experience for patients who are medically fit awaiting their discharge destination to be finalised. You will care for patients as individuals and meet their needs while they remain on the ward.
Playing a valuable role within the team you will also have excellent communication skills, passion for people and a flexible approach to your everyday work.
