Can you help make someone’s stay in hospital comfortable and safe, bringing compassion and kindness to all you do?
We need cheerful, hands-on people to join our team of Band 2 healthcare assistants who make a real difference to people’s lives at Dorset HealthCare’s Yeatman Hospital.
Playing a vital role in caring for our mainly elderly patients, you’ll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional in a supportive team with a range of skills and experience.
You’ll be observant and happy to take the initiative, providing personalised care to meet each patient’s individual needs.
Your day could include a range of tasks like helping patients eat, wash and move around, changing bedding, helping run clinics, monitoring patients’ conditions and replenishing stock.
You’ll have lots of opportunities to learn on the job and to access training, with the potential to progress to a range of other NHS roles.
Previous experience of volunteering or working within a health or care setting would be helpful, as would a relevant NVQ 2, or the willingness to work towards it.

1. To assist registered nursing staff in providing high quality individualised nursing care. Identifying and acknowledging “What Matters Most” to the patient, involving carers and relatives.
2. To assist the multidisciplinary team to support patients to achieve a level of independence which enables them to be safely discharged if required have further ongoing rehabilitation in their own home or other discharge
destination.
3. As a team member to compassionately support patients and their relatives who are admitted for Palliative, End of Life Care, maintaining dignity and respect.
4. To participate in providing a range of therapeutic activities
for patients.
This is a full-time post, 37.50 hours per week.
