We have an amazing opportunity for Male Support Workers to join our caring and support team at our Holybourne Hospital in Roehampton, an Adult Mental Health hospital for men and women with severe and complex mental health conditions.
Across four wards we support people over the age of 18 who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007). We can also admit patients who require detoxification from alcohol or drugs or patients who are under a revoked Community Treatment Order (CTO).
We have an Art Therapy room, ADL Kitchen, Gym, Multi Faith Room, there are 3 garden areas and on site parking. We also have a service user expert who works with us on a weekly basis supporting patients in the service and involving them in service reviews and development.
What you'll be working:
We offer full and part-time hours.
Our shift patterns are:
- 08:00 – 20:15 long day
- 20:00 – 08:15 night shift
What you'll be doing:
- Build relationships with patients, which are open and two way
- Support patients to undertake their rehabilitation programme
- Establish methods of communication with patients, reducing barriers when necessary
- Assist patients with mealtimes where necessary
- Support with activities of daily living and personal care when needed
- Communicate any issues to the clinical team
- Accurately report and/or record work activities
What you'll have:
- A genuine interest in providing the best person centre care possible for our young people
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Experience working within the care sector / mental health would be an advantage but not essential
