Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety and Environment Officer to join our team at one of our Public Sector contracts at Milton Keynes with occasional travel to a satellite depot at Castle Donington.
The role holder will report directly to the Sector HSE Manager and will be supporting the development of our strategy to shape the HSE function within their responsibility. Working closely with the respective Management team to deliver this strategy and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Work closely with local management teams to drive and improve HSE standards across multiple sites within your responsibility
- Work with management teams to improve environmental and sustainability standards in line with the wider organisations mission
- Produce and deliver strategic plans for HSE performance, considering corporate and customer requirements
- Proactively promote the HSE strategy to drive improvement within the safety performance culture
- Ensure HSE best practice is adopted and regularly reviewed across all sites within your responsibility, including day to day management; accident reduction strategies; and management of HSE training requirements
- Statistical analysis and trending to identify issues of concern; assist in the creation, modification, and delivery of relevant action plans in response to findings
- Assist in or lead on, the investigation and management of incidents, providing advise on root cause, best preventative measures and sharing lessons learned
- Manage and develop a team of HSE Officers
- Use corporate HSE systems: Eco-Online, Vantage BCP, Webrisk
- Keep abreast of corporate, regulatory, and legislative changes and advise management on the implications for the sites
- Produce management reports as required by the sector HSE Manager and local operations teams
Experience, skills, attributes, and the person:
- NEBOSH certification
- Relevant experience of managing HSE
- Proactive, self-starter with leadership and influencing skills able to converse and present at all levels
- Passion and drive to make a difference to safety within the business
- Ability to translate legislation into everyday language
- Competent administrative and IT skills
As a Health, Safety & Environment Manager you will be rewarded with:
- Salary £28,000 to £35,000 dependant on experience
