The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our QHSE team for a Health & Safety Officer to be the first point of contact in all matters related to occupational safety and health across all our UK business units and to support broader continual improvement and compliance programmes.
The post-holder will provide direct support to the QHSE Director, specifically in respect of maintaining safe systems of work and relevant safety certification and accreditations. Duties will extend to internal auditing, accident and near miss investigation, preparation of risk assessments, safety instructions, local rules and other documented information as required from time to time by the business.
Working closely with all the site leads, process owners and process performers, the Health & Safety Officer will ensure tasks are carried out in a safe manner and according to agreed arrangements. The preparation and delivery of safety training and awareness, to colleagues at all levels within the business, is an essential aspect of this role.
This position can be based in Farnborough, Harwell or Warrington and belongs to the Industrial Division – EMEA & APAC, reporting to the QHSE Director.

Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of a Health & Safety Officer include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of risk assessments (field services; radiological, COSHH, PUWER, etc)
- Ensure the business has up-to-date awareness of changes to health and safety legislation
- Plan, prepare and deliver safety training to employees
- Plan and conduct internal safety audits according to internal and ISO standards requirements
- Travel to various UK Sites on a monthly basis

The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Health & Safety Officer are:
- Minimum 3 years safety advisory/safety management in industry
- Demonstrable knowledge of current UK health and safety law
- International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) (desirable)
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
- National Compliance and Risk Qualifications (NCRQ) Level 6 Diploma in Applied Health and Safety (desirable)
- A relevant degree such as environmental health or occupational safety and health
- Radiation safety management (desirable)
- Ability to be seen as a role model to establish effective team working and cooperation
- Excellent communication skills and natural problem solver
- Confident in the use of common Microsoft applications to produce written reports and data analysis in an informative, engaging and visually impactful way
UK Right to Work status is required.

Salary: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
