Job description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to lead our H&S Advisory Service based within Legal & Compliance Services. You will be required to provide the assurance to the University that all its obligations with respect to health and safety legislation are being met.
Utilising recognised health and safety quality frameworks, the Manager will monitor and coordinate the management of an effective and compliant health and safety function within the University.
Key duties will include:
- Leading and being accountable for the delivery of a professional health and safety service to faculties and professional services
- Supporting the development and implementation of a University health and safety management system
- Providing senior level strategic and operational support to embed in faculties and professional services
- Developing health and safety policies and health and safety management systems to enable compliance with legal obligations and best practice.
- Influencing local decision-making processes to ensure that effective management of health and safety and wellbeing risks are embedded in all aspects of business planning and operation.
The role includes the review and development of appropriate strategies, policies, procedures and staff training and development, ensuring a progressive health and safety culture is promoted and maintained aimed at ensuring continuous improvement in practice across all areas.
The post requires that you will have excellent relationship building and communication skills to engage positively with staff and students.
You will be educated to Degree level, hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and be a Chartered member of IOSH as a minimum, and have substantial proven experience within Health, Safety and Risk Advisor role.
