JOB DESCRIPTION
Day Healthcare Assistant
Responsible to:- The Manager
Purpose of Position
1. To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.
2. To help in the care of the residents physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting including dental care, hair care and nail care.
2. Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence. Help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
3. Care for residents temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing.
4. Help care for residents who are dying.
5. Give day medication to residents as prescribed, dispensed by two members of staff in accordance with the requirements of the policies and procedures of Lorven Housing ltd
6. Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of resident through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations and to encourage residents to participate in each days planned activities.
7. Make and change beds, tidy rooms and do light cleaning. Empty and clean residents commodes, clean sinks and surrounds.
8. Inspect, launder and mend residents clothing as necessary.
9. Set tables and trays, serve meals, feed resident who need help.
Prepare light meals and wash up, tidy and clear the dining room and other areas as needed.
10. Respond to emergency bells promptly. Answer the door and telephone and greet visitors courteously.
11. Read and write and update care plans ensuring that all information is passed on accurately and in detail to changeover shift. Take part in staff and residents meetings and in training activities as directed.
12. To ensure that the policies and procedure of Lorven housing ltd are read and complied with.
13. It is required for the member of staff to arrive 10 minutes prior to start of shift to be available for handover of information thus allowing staff to leave on time after their shift.
14. Such other duties as may be required.
