This purpose built, state-of-the-art care home is situated in a secluded location adjacent to the popular Cliffe Park, at the edge of Dronfield village centre and provides residential care for the elderly and those living with dementia.

The Callywhite has been carefully designed for the elderly and those living with dementia, incorporating the University of Stirling’s design guidelines for Dementia Care.

JOB PURPOSE

To share with other staff, in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. You are to help in the care of the resident’s physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities of the home.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 36 Hours Per Week
  • Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet. Residents must never be left unattended in the shower or bath.
  • Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
  • Make and change beds; tidy rooms, empty commodes.
  • Collect soiled linen and deliver to the laundry, inspect, launder and mend resident’s clothing.
  • Set tables and trays; serve meals; feed residents who may need help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clear the dining room.
  • Answer emergency bells; the door and the telephone; greet visitors.
  • Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing and report any concerns to the nurse in charge. Read and write reports; take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed.
  • Accompany residents on travel to and from the nursing home as and when necessary.
  • Carry out all required safety precautions, fire drills, moving and handling, food hygiene practises as required and after receiving appropriate instruction and mandatory training.
  • Any other duties as may be necessary to ensure the smooth running of the Nursing Home.

EXTRA DUTIES

  • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job,participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.
  • To undertake such other duties, Mandatory training and/or hours of work may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
  • To undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the post and/or as detailed in the Directorate’s Health and Safety Policy.
