We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant, to work mornings 5 days a week. There may be a requirement for you to work Saturday mornings on occasion.
You will be responsible, as part of our nursing team, and under the indirect supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse, for the delivery of high-quality patient focussed services, including venepuncture, annual diabetes reviews, NHS Health checks, urinalysis, administration of B12 injections and pneumonia vaccines, as well as participating in our annual flu vaccine campaign, health promotion and all other healthcare Assistant duties.
Role Summary:
- To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the patient population.
- To deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Undertake venepuncture
- Carry out observations and biometrics such as BP, Pulse, height and weight and foot checks as part of diabetes reviews
- Carry out NHS health checks and mental health reviews
- Support the practice nurses with health promotion programmes
- When trained administer B12 injections and pneumonia vaccines
- Act as a chaperone as required
- When trained, administer flu vaccinations as part of the seasonal flu campaign
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Participate in practice audits as directed by the Lead Practice Nurse
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
- Removal of stitches and staples

Healthcare qualification or equivalent level
Phlebotomy certification
Experience
6 months’ relevant experience working in a primary care environment in the last 2 years
Experience of working with the general public
Experience of working in a healthcare setting
