Care Assistant Part Time

The role can be experienced or offered as an apprenticeship, with training on site.

All applicants will need to have Covid19 and flu vaccination before commencing.

Reports to Home Manager, Deputy Home Manager, Nurse in Charge.

The Main Responsibilities

- To provide a quality care service to clients
- Support and assist with day to day tasks and getting to know your clients routines, - - whilst maintaining their rights to privacy, dignity and choice.
- Help with bathing, washing, dressing, using the toilet and personal care where required
- To promote and enable independence to the best of the clients ability
- Assist in the care of residents who are unwell or dying
- To assist and support clients to engage with family and friends
- Help and support clients to attend any social activities or appointments
- Talking to residents and sharing activities such as reading, writing and hobbies
- Serving of meals and feeding clients
- Monitor the needs of residents, informing a senior member of staff of an emergency situation or concern about their health or wellbeing
- Make and change beds, tidy rooms and empty commodes
- Inspect launder and mend residents clothes where necessary
- set tables and trays, assist with serving meals, tidy and clean dining room after meals.
- Answer call bells, emergency bells, the door and telephone
- Receive, record and communicate information and messages
- Take part in staff and residents meeting and training activities as required
- Complete qualifications and training
- Attend and participate in regular supervision and apprailals
- At all times be aware of the security of the building in relation to residents and staff safety.

Skills and knowledge

Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Reporting on residents conditions both verbally and written
Understand your responsibilities within Health and Safety Legislation
Must be prepared to undertake any training as required to further develop your skills
Must be able to work in a team.

To support older people who may have dementia , sensory impairments or mental health conditions
Have an understanding of Equal Opportunities

Requirements

Must have or working towards NVQ Level 2/3 in Health or Social Care
Must undertake mandatory training- Manual Handling, Safeguarding etc
Must be reliable, flexible and able to work a shift pattern
Must hold a current DBS, application will be made on site as required

Job Types: Part-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 6-9 months
Part-time hours: 28 per week

Salary: £9.50 per hour
