If so we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our NHS family at Sandwell and west Birmingham NHS Trust across our surgical services department. This includes our acute trauma and orthopaedic and general surgical wards, elective orthopaedic and general surgical wards and our surgical assessment unit.
As a health care support worker/ Health Care assistant you will be supporting patients with their personal, tailored individual needs including washing, dressing and toileting, taking patient meal orders ensuring to order what is right for them, being able to identify different dietary needs such a soft diet, puree diet, vegetarians, halal etc.. serving meals and helping to feed patient who can no longer do this for themselves, helping patients to mobilise and to move around, making beds, monitoring patient conditions by carrying out observations, be able to use computers to input patient information onto our electronic record systems.
you must have excellent communications skills and be able to communicate any concerns that you may have or if you feel as though a patient is deterioration or doesn't seem right, you must be able to communicate with patients, doctors, therapists and patient families. you must be friendly and approachable and willing to learn.

- to assist patients with individualised personal care
- to be aware of spiritual, cultural and religious needs of all patients and tailor care to their needs
- to assist patients mobility whether that be in bed, independently or with specific mobility equipment.
- taking and recording observations, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, height and weight and being able to report them if they are not within normal range for the patient.
- testing specimens and recording the results
- having IT knowledge and willingness to learn out electronic patient record systems
- being able to support and comfort patients when undergoing procedures to ensure their safety and comfort
- to adhere to local policies and procedures
- to maintain confidentiality at ALL times
- to patriciate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and to act as a role model
- to adhere to and to be compliant with all mandatory training
- to work closely with registered RN and to support them with daily routine.
