PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential criteria
1. A positive interest and affinity towards older people.
2. A consistently high standard of personal appearance, well groomed and with a high standard of personal hygiene at all times on duty.
3. Able to communicate clearly and effectively with residents, colleagues and visitors to the Care Village.
4. Able to read and write clearly with a good command of the English language.
5. Courteous and able to establish a positive rapport with relatives and visitors to the Home.
6. Positive attitude and openness to new ideas. Ability to take on board constructive criticism to enable the maintenance of a high standard of care.
7. Reliable and punctual.
8. Able to meet the mobility requirements of the job in full. No health problems which would affect ability to carry out the full range of duties or which would affect attendance at work.
9. Able to get on well with others and be flexible in regard to duties allocated.
10. If working on day duty, must be able to work both morning and evening shifts and weekends in accordance with the rota.
Desirable criteria
Experience of working with people in a team setting.
Life experience eg caring for an elderly relative.
Insight into the needs of older people eg physical, psychological and spiritual.
