About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated health care assistant to join our excellent team of nursing. We are looking for an individual with great attention to detail and excellent team player skills to join the team and support the clinical service it provides.
Job specification:
Under the direction of senior nursing staff and fertility consultants, you will develop skills with regards to the care of patients undergoing assisted reproductive techniques through compassionate, informed and evidence-based practice.
- Prepare for and assist with the smooth running of the clinic ensuring a high standard of nursing care
- Schedule and co-ordinate patient treatment cycles, liaising with doctors to arrange prescriptions and drug administration.
- To explain the individualised treatment schedule including the potential side effects of the drug treatment and demonstration of injection technique with the use of subcutaneous injection pen.
- Perform basic patient assessments
- Take blood samples
- Perform nurse’s pre-treatment consultations
- Teach patients how to self-administer relevant medications
- Monitor stock levels and order stock and non-stock items as required
- Assist with ultrasound scans
- Administer of drugs relevant to patient’s treatment, including IV infusions
- Dispense medications per prescriptions
- To ensure that all record keeping on the unit is accurate and legible and maintains patient confidentiality according to Trust and HFEA policy.
- Perform pre-operative assessments
- Patient contact both in person and on the telephone
- Complete patient and group paperwork on time and with accuracy
- Assisting in outpatient procedures such as Hycosy and aquascan
- Other duties as instructed by the line manager

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience in Fertility Clinic or Outpatients department desired
- Phlebotomy 1 year
- Interest in Women’s Health
- Outstanding patient care
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2/3 HCA or equivalent
- Phlebotomy
