require a Full Time Healthcare Assistant
to join our team at Lache Health Centre, Hawthorn Road, Chester.
37 hours per week,
Salary is dependent on experience.
We are a GMS practice with 4 doctors. The practice is a busy and friendly GP training practice with an opening for new Health Care Assistant.
The post involves, for example, taking blood from patients, performing ECG’s, blood pressures, assist with minor operations and associated administration. Ideally you will have experience of the clinical environment and the delivery of hands-on care. You must have good communication, IT and people skills. The ability to work as part of the bigger team whilst using your own initiative is essential. If successful you will find the job interesting as well as challenging at times. The successful candidate will be supported by the Senior Lead Nurse and other members of the team.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous Phlebotomy experience
· Care certificate (desirable)
· NVQ qualified
· Certificate of competence
· Suitable references
· Motivated and flexible attitude

Healthcare Assistant
REPORTS TO ADMINISTRATIVELY- Practice Manager
REPORTS TO CLINICALY- Nurse Practitioner
HOURS- 37 hours per week
Job Summary
- The post holder will provide a general Healthcare Assistant service for the Practice.
- The post holder may be asked to undertake other administrative duties from time to time.
· The post holder will maintain patient confidentiality and will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Practice Nurse and within Practice Guidelines and Protocols at all times.
Clinical Duties
· To provide a sessional phlebotomy service for patients at times and on days to be agreed.
- To ensure that laboratory samples are correctly labelled and sent to the laboratory promptly.
- To record on the practice clinical computer system all patient encounters using templates.
- To maintain adequate stocks of medical supplies required to perform phlebotomy duties
- To assist with Minor Operations
- To assist with health screening and childhood immunisation paperwork
- To be proactive in helping the practice achieve maximum QOF targets
- Other duties as required but not limited to ECG’s, blood pressures, stock rotation.
- To undertake CPR training and other training relating to the phlebotomy service as required.
- To act as a chaperone as required to GPs and Practice Nurses.
- To participate in the induction programme of staff new to the practice
General Duties
· To function as an integral part of the Team.
· To attend relevant clinical meetings as required.
· To have knowledge of and act at all times within the boundaries of Health and Safety legislation and Data Protection Acts.
· To report immediately to a member of the clinical staff or the Practice Manager any acts of omission or error to safeguard the interest of the patient.

· To maintain a professional development plan and submit annually
· To maintain own clinical development through periods of study as agreed within the contract of employment.
