Job description

We are looking to recruit a qualified Health Care Assistant who will join our established & supportive nursing team. The role is 30 hours across 4 days. Experience in a similar role is necessary but on going training will be supported.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Therapeutic procedures-

Administer flu/pneumococcal vaccinations as per HCA Flu protocol once trained & competent

· Phlebotomy

· Follow up patients for wound care once reviewed by a registered clinician initially

· Post-op procedures -suture and staple removal

· Administer B12 injections as per HCA protocol

· Diabetic foot checks

Health screening and Promotion-

· New patient registration checks, referring on when appropriate

· Assist with Learning Disability checks

· Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients and maintain stocks

Measurement and investigations-

· Urinalysis

· Spirometry once trained & competent

· Complete Dementia assessments

· Measurement of height and weight- referring on when appropriate

· Measurement of BP, temperature and pulse

· Peak Flow measurements

· Recording of ECGs

· Fit the 24-hour BP machines

Communication with patients and Teams in practice-

· Initiate sessions, close sessions and be responsible for time management

· Gain appropriate consent from the patient

· Work effectively within the practice team

· Interact with patients and colleagues in a professional manner

· Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients

· Enable patients to access appropriate professionals in the practice team

· Act as a chaperone

· Clearly present patients’ point of view to others

· Contribute new ideas to improve patient care

Administrative responsibilities-

· Ensure stock items are ordered and provided in GP rooms

· Follow infection control standards

· Recording fridge checks daily

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

• LEEDS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

• Health Care Assistant qualification (required)
