Health and Safety Officer
ITH Pharma specialises in the provision of Parenteral Nutrition, Chemotherapy and CIVAS. Our team provides flexible services with batch and bespoke items for adults, paediatrics and neonates to both NHS and private hospitals. Role
We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to ensure the organisation, and all organisational activities are compliant with health and safety legislation, regulations, and good practice, through regular risk assessment, and the provision of support and training to colleagues.
Duties will include:
· Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
· Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
· Responsible for the continual audit of existing health and safety SOPs and the development of new SOPs when gaps are identified.
· Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
· Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
· Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
· Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
· Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
· Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
· Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the ITH group companies.
· Research, identify and implement new working practices to improve the quality of health and safety of staff.
· Produce management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
· Ensure equipment is installed safely.
· Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances.
· Advise on a range of specialist areas e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases.
· Arrange and lead regular health and safety forums involving colleagues from across the group of companies.
· Plan, undertake and oversee regulatory inspections regarding health and safety compliance.
· Prepare responses to regulatory authorities’ questions within assigned timelines.
· Serve as expert advisor on health and safety matters offering advice about regulations, company policies, practices, and systems.
· Support other projects as required.
· Ensures risk reduction programs drive to risk to as low as reasonably practicable.
· Lead, facilitate a culture of safety consciousness and continuous improvement projects
· Conduct EHS Audits and inspections to ensure site compliance with EHS processes and procedures.
· Support department managers with non-conformities to ensure timely compliance
· Coach and direct BBS program with BBS lead to improve safety culture and continual improvement
Applicants
Applicants must have a solid Health and Safety background gained within a manufacturing environment, preferably within a pharmaceutical although this is not essential.
You will have a flexible and adaptable approach to your work and be used to working to tight deadlines. You will also have a logical approach to your role and have strong problem identification and solving skills.
You will need to be NEBOSH qualified. If you have a background in environmental work or are IOSH qualified this would be desirable but is by no means essential to the role.
This is a full time role but we may consider someone part time.
Salary
In return, we pay circa £50,000 pro rata a year as a base salary.
