Job description
We are now looking for a Health and Safety Officer to join us working out of our Banbury depot. You will be responsible for advising on overall compliance in matters of health & safety in accordance with company policy and relevant statutory provisions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all Egis M40 H&S activities and maintain standards of H&S in the work environment
- Carry out regular site safety audits, risk assessments and document the findings and implement necessary corrective actions
- Be responsible for Legionella monitoring and control within the depots
- Lead accident investigations and ensure remedial actions are put in place
- Collate and maintain any data, records or other information required for H&S within Egis M40 and identify any trends that require attention
- Facilitate the implementation, monitoring and review of the Company’s H&S policies and assist with the implementation of new Company safety procedures
- Advise management on H&S laws, regulations and directives which affect the company and its employees
- Complete statutory notifications to the H&S Authority for all incident or accident reporting
- Maintain and administer the Company's safety manuals, standards, procedures and other related H&S documents and training documentation
- Ensuring that records of statutory inspections are kept for all activities and plant equipment
- Preparation of Health & Safety communications to the workforce
- Attending, contributing and advising in internal and external Safety Meetings
- Ensuring contractor safety statements and required Method Statements are available and assessed
- Advising and assisting in drafting and communicating Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and COSHH Assessments
Profile
- Ideal candidate will be qualified in Health & Safety with 3 years’ experience in a similar highways’ environment
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance procedures, publications and an ability to interpret relevant legislation
- Proven ability to carry out effective investigations, audits, inspections and compile reports and recommendations as appropriate
- Proven ability to apply best practice to prevent or reduce injury claims and carry out and manage incident investigations
- High level of communication skills, including written, oral and presentation skills
- Proficiency in the application of Microsoft office suite
- Experience in maintaining ISO standards
- Fluent in English
- Flexibility required
- Full driver's license
- Positive, energetic and focused, with good organisational ability
- Experienced in working autonomously and within teams in a fast-paced environment
