Job description
The primary function of the role will be helping to develop, manage and carry out a Proactive Compliance Monitoring Program to ensure systems of management, policy and procedure in regards to Health Safety and compliance are adequate, checked and is evidenced regularly. Reactive management of other Health and Safety systems i.e. health surveillance, accident reports and accident management would also be a day to day responsibility.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Support Operations Compliance Manager with establishing an effective Proactive Monitoring Program for Health, Safety and Compliance including carrying out inspections, sampling, surveys, tours and audits
- Generate effective reports for Senior Management
- Highlight present audit findings and raise corrective action, reports to be monitored for completion within a determined time scale
- Maintain effective and up to date records in relation to Health, Safety and Compliance
- Interpret applicable regulation/legislation and facilitate organisational compliance and change where necessary
- Monitor, investigate and manage reports filed through the internal reporting system in regard to accidents and incidents
- Notify Operations Compliance Manager of any RIDDOR reportable instances and handle these, communicating with the HSE as required
- Assist in the administration of operational manuals and associated documentation, including the production of information bulletins when required
- Provide advice/ training to staff on relevant topics where required e.g. fire wardens, risk assessments etc
- Organise and chair HS committee meetings
- Any other duties as may be required by the Compliance Department
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Health Safety General Qualification (NEBOSH or similar)
- Previous relevant experience in carrying out various inspections and audits
- Strong organisational skills
- Motivated with enthusiasm to work
- Excellent attention to detail
- A professional telephone manner and good customer service skills
- Proficient level of word and excel
- Ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and contacts outside companies
- Good communication skills – written and verbal
- Decision making ability
Health Safety Responsibilities
- It is each employee’s responsibility to ensure that the environment in which they work in is safe for them and others
- This includes reporting all accidents and near misses to management
- Reporting any potential issues which could cause harm
- Behave in a manner which acts in line with the standards set out in the Health and Safety Manual and Company Handbook
