Health and Safety Compliance Manager
Band 10
Permanent, full time (37 hours per week)
Office and home-based working as required
This is an exciting time to join Great Yarmouth Borough Council. The Council has recently agreed to mobilise a newly-created, in-house H & S Compliance function to ensure that the Council is successful in implementing the highest standards of Health and Safety Management across the Council Housing Portfolio and the Corporate stock. This is a new team and we are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual who can lead the team and also someone who can develop and build a platform for success. ü Are you a highly experienced. Senior Health and Safety Compliance professional looking for a new and exciting challenge of setting up and leading a new team within the Council with responsibility for managing all of its H & S requirements including the 5,800 Council Homes as well as the Council’s property portfolio
- Do you have experience of leading and managing a team of Health and Safety professionals?
- Have you got a strong technical background with the ability to drive through change and improvement?
- Do you strive to get the best from your team through delivering excellent service to your customers?
A little more about the role
The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the delivery of the Council’s newly created Health and Safety Compliance function delivering a comprehensive, robust Health and Safety Management Service that will cover the Council’s people and property portfolio across the Council. Leading the Council’s compliance team, this post holder will work to implement robust strategies, policies and procedures, minimise the risks of accidents, work-related illnesses, and injuries in the workplace.
The post holder will work collaboratively across all functions and teams within the Council to ensure that services are delivered within statutory and regulatory standards.
The newly created, Health and Safety Compliance team will be focused on providing a professional proactive and responsive Health and Safety service across the people and property portfolio at Great Yarmouth Borough Council including the Council’s housing stock of approx. 5,800 homes. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the team in setting the highest standards through the development and implementation of new strategies, policies and procedures and recruiting to a new team who will work across the Council to ensure that there is a strong H & S culture embedded within all teams.
