Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor – 37.5 hrs per week

About the Trust
Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of only three dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people, including community and mental health care as well as acute and specialist services. We provide a full range of services for residents of Sheffield and South Yorkshire as well as specialised services for patients from across the United Kingdom.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Act as a competent advisor in relation to all health and safety matters as required for compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations and other related legislation.
- Support Care Groups, Directorates, Departments, Wards, and Specialities with the identification and prioritising key risk. Advise and support managers in the development of appropriate risk assessments and action plans to address these risks.
- Attend, as directed by the health and Safety Manager, all Trust premises including off site properties to advise and provide support on the day to day health and safety management processes and procedures for each individual site.
- Use specialist knowledge around health and safety legislation to assist in the planning, implementing and evaluating a robust health and safety programme within the organisation which in turn will create a pro-active health and safety culture within the Trust.
- Actively participate in working groups, committees and project teams where there is a requirement for health and safety risk advice and support (Care groups. medical gases, radiation, infection control, risk management)
- Ability to review any reported incidents relating to health and safety using trend analysis and provide Bi-monthly trend analysis reports in addition to identifying areas where increased.
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
- An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.
- Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.
- A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
- Experience/Knowledge in this role 3-5 years required of practice
- Minimum NEBOSH Cert
- NEBOSH Fire
- NEBOSH Construction
- Teaching Level 3 qualification
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent communication skills
